About Us

Merriett Ferris

My journey with healthy eating began in the beginning of 2011 when I went to my first prenatal visit with our daughter Cosette. It was then that I found out my blood glucose levels were extremely high. Since it was in the first trimester (gestational diabetes starts in the 2-3 trimester) and my body type did not fit a typical type 2 diabetic.... I was diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic (meaning my pancreas doesn't produce insulin any more), given insulin and sent on my way.

But, I wasn't ready to take that news and accept the fact that I was a type 1... and that was when my journey began.

I was able to completely change my diet and get off of insulin altogether! December 7, 2011 I delivered a perfectly healthy 6lb 14oz little girl and did not take insulin the entire pregnancy (except that one week).

I beat diabetes and made better choices along the way. I love to share my story and love love love to help others get healthy. That's it. I'm no expert, I just love to do research and I love to share what I have learned. I reserve the right to change my opinion on things as I continue to learn along the way.

and I am still learning. I believe that every good expert should be continually learning...

Only 4 months after our first daughter was born I got pregnant again. This pregnancy wasn't as much of a success story.  The diabetes came back AND I suffered from adrenal fatigue making it extremely difficult to control however, I am on the road to recovery and learning MORE AND MORE along the way. Which just means I have more to share!! :-)

Lance Ferris

Lance is my husband and best friend. Although he is just on the "behind the scenes" of this page, I don't think I could do it without him. He is the one that has been encouraging me from the beginning to write all that I have learned down. He is great for bouncing off ideas, proofreading, he handles the business aspect of this page and much more.
